Community Events

This week in May, Canadian governments acknowledge Emergency Preparedness Week and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) presents Mental Health Week.  Please see the links below for more information.

Emergency Preparedness Week link:

Be prepared for emergencies, such as those caused by climate change and other threats, as these are becoming more common.

Mental Health Week Link:

Please ask for help when mental health issues begin to negatively impact your life, at any stage of life. Also work on strategies for your and your families’ well-being.

The strategies outlined in the mental health week article are indeed similar to Guru Nanak’s philosophy. Kirit Karo, Naam Japo, Vand Chhako.  It’s about taking the time to making yourself stronger through active living, meditation, and self-awareness and then applying your strengths and abilities to build a caring and resilient community.

It’s about knowing that we have the capacity as humans to get through most painful and difficult events if we stay mentally and emotionally strong. It requires work,  but each one of us can be more resilient.

May 2018 Programs - Sewa is Available

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji,

The month of May is upon us and warmer weather is finally here.  Please register for Punjabi Classes now as they will start on May 20th.  Punjabi classes and music classes are for all ages so join in this important learning.

In May there are Sundays available to book kirtan and langar sewa. We encourage families who have not booked sewa in the last few years to consider booking some sewa. This is a perfect opportunity to commit some time that can be spent in Guru’s abode with family and friends. This sewa is hard to come by.  Please call gurdwara to book.
