Guru Pyari Sadh Sangat Ji,

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh,

After much collaboration, Guelph Sikh Society,  is proud to present and play exclusively a documentary film “MARTYRS-SHAHEED” based on true Sikh History on Sunday, October 15 at 1:45 pm at gurdwara sahib (70 Stevenson St South Guelph).

This documentary capturing rich Sikh history of our martyrs is a must watch for sangat across all age groups. This film will not be available on YouTube or DVD in foreseeable future. Thus, management committee humbly requests all the members to come together to watch this documentary film.

Preview starts@ 1:45pm. Full film plays 2-3:30pm this Sunday Oct 15 at gurdwara.

“MARTYRS - SHAHEED is a docu feature of 80 mins which introduces the Sikh religion, the ten gurus, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and then shows how Guru Tegh Bahadur ji gave his life for the cause of saving the nation from Aurangzeb.  It further focuses on the establishment of Khalsa panth and why it was created. It gives some rare info why Khanda Baata was used for baptism and it also throws light on various other points of Sikh history.  It’s a very important film for all age groups, especially the younger generation, that has grown up abroad to connect them to their roots. The film runs with voice over, and is dubbed both in Punjabi and English as well using high quality visual effects and cinema techniques. It took more than 2 years to complete this film.”  This film is successfully screened in 60 Gurdwaras across in North America.

We are extremely lucky to be able to welcome the director Jagmeet Singh Samundri in our Gurdwara.  His first documentary “RISE OF THE KHALSA” won the best director award at New York’s Independent International film festival. Last year his feature film “SAKA NANKANA SAHIB DE SHAHEED” was released ( ).  Sangat will also have opportunity to interact with the writer/director Jagmeet Singh Samundri after the documentary film.
